I say, let them compete head on and show both the kids and the parents what they're up against. Might motivate some to get a bit more serious about learning English. |
Doubt it. It's "not fair", and no one wants to go up against any really competition here.
I really think we as teachers need to forget the idea that people are serious about English here. It's a rare few. I have met some, but as an ALT or at my eikaiwa, there were basically none. |

That sounds like solid advice! Let's just stop caring or trying, along with everyone else! At least MEXT's stated goals are towards functional English, even if its methods leave a lot to be desired. |

You're right. That sounded bad. I just have gotten tired of English being promoted, yet no progress being made. I have gotten a bit bitter |
