I am wondering if anyone knows anything about LanguageCorps... I found them through my schools job website, they posted in international job section. I guess you can get certified TESOL through them, it seems like they just provide some guidance and job placement assistance. No idea if it is actually worth it or not! Also no idea if TESOL is a certification worth having in Turkey, they say its an 140 hour training course with about 12 and 10 hours observed training and teaching. Includes job placement assistance and survival Turkish lessons (I am in the process of teaching myself basic Turkish through Rosetta stone (bad I know ) and a multitude of Turkish language/grammar books).
Says fee for the program is $1,800, seems pretty steep but I am a noob and am not sure what certification typically cost.
Anyway, has anyone worked with LanguageCorps, know anything about them?? Gotten job placement through them? Any thoughts on the price, or how valuable job placement assistance (whatever that actually means) might be? |

Don't know anything about that company, but I do know that it certainly helps to have a TESOL or CELTA certification. CELTA is better than TESOL and when you apply for jobs, you will be paid more with a CELTA.
Also, $1800 is not too much for a TESOL. |

Thanks for your opinion! And good to know that $1800 isnt an over the top about for TESOL, I guess I was hoping that it would be a little cheaper though But anyway, after everything I've read on this site it seems that there is no reason to go for TESOL over the CELTA. LanguageCorps seemed attractive to me as it is an American company and provides job assistance, relocation support, etc. But seems like CELTA is the way to go no matter if I want to teach adults or kids, and whatever pays more is more worth it. Also CELTA seems to be around the same price or even a little cheaper, and some schools also often job placement assistance, although I doubt its that helpful.
Anyone disagree with me? Any reasons to do TESOL or TEFL instead of CELTA?
(I have a bachelors, working on a masters in social work, and have 1 year of experience in school teaching social skills and other special classes, some of which were for ESL kids) |

not so fast
Trinity TESOL is on a par with CELTA
TESOL itself is just a generic term like TEFL ... so it could mean anything |
