Anyone know anything about whether they're recruiting? |

The Turkish press has announced the possible opening of Turkey's first private university, Mezopotamia University, in Diyarbakir from the beginning of the 2015-16 academic year.
Negotiations are still going on as to whether it will be approved, so I doubt there will be any recruiting for the moment. |

Besides, think twice about getting involved with any start-up program. There are bound to be long hours, screw ups, and major disorganization. |

Disagree, when they start up is often the best time, later when power struggles take place is worse.
Check to see who is running the show, their credentials, past history etc |

I forgot to mention in my previous post that this would be the first Kurdish private university in Turkey.
This is going to be hugely controversial. |

Before I heard about this I was seriously considering a "No [More] New Universities" rule in my next round of job applications. "long hours, screwups and major disorganization" is my new normal these days. Not the ideal situation at all, but the opportunities here tend to have major downsides to be taken into consideration. |

I would love the opportunity to improve my Kurmanci. All the same, it's not like there's no chance to practice where I am now... |

Duly noted. Anecdotally, often the first year salaries are significantly more than what they quote new hires/pull out of their orifices for contract renewals in subsequent years. One has to look at it as hardship pay. |

Certainly an interesting location.
I'll put this one on my list of options if the money is ok.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention. |

How so? That is, how were the start ups you were involved in?
I recently collaborated on a start-up, university-level English language program (in the Middle East), and for the first two months, we were putting in 50-60 hours a week of set-up work with just one weekend day off (and no extra pay). Our first teaching session was a pilot run and was hectic, again with long hours, but we were able to get through the session without too many hiccups. It was exhausting yet typical of start ups. That's the reality. |
