Dear grahamb,
I'm afraid the Democratic party already has a surfeit of candidates. Moreover, we all know what happened in 1999 when Ralph Nader ran on the Green Party ticket, and, in my opinion, contributed, at least in part, to putting Dubya in the White House. Besides, where politics is concerned, I don't think it'd be "aiming higher"; lower would be more like it, I'd say. I very much doubt anyone can be a politician and NOT compromise his/her integrity to some degree. Nope, I think I'll stick to what I'm doing in the political arena: contributing time and money to the Dean campaign and trying to persuade everyone I know to get out and vote THIS time for whomever the Democrats finally nominate. I much appreciate your "write-in ballot", though.

Not sure why this thread was revisited after a decade, but why not? It's interesting, isn't it?

Far more interesting for me, and not just me, is johnslat's post-teaching law enforcement career. Could I ask how that went, John? It was a decade ago so I hope all went well and my question isn't indiscreet.
