It's coming down between a battle of China and Mexico...I'm 22 and an undergraduate with no experience so my options are extremely limited.
I love asia, but mexico is still interesting to me. The air ticket to mexico, obviously, is much cheaper, and the jobs seem just as plentiful as china even if you dont have a college degree or any experience. Is that true? What do you people think? |

Based on the info about yourself that you've given, I believe if you want to survive on your earnings as an EFL teacher, you'll have a better shot at it in China. It would be very difficult in Mexico, because your job options would be so limited. There aren't all that many good jobs, and you'd be competing against applicants (both locals and foreigners) who have university degrees, TEFL training, and/or EFL teaching experience. Just my humble opinion. |

I agree with Ben. Pack your bags for Beijing. |

If you just want a bit of experience you might try looking in Guatemala. The pay is absolutely terrible but then the cost of living can be very cheap too. You won't find work over internet, but if you can afford to go as a tourist you shouldn't have any problem finding a job and getting some teaching experience under your belt.
Unless they have drastically changed the laws in the past four years you will be working illegally, but most foreign teachers there are doing the same thing. |

If making money is the goal, then you probably would prefer China. Besides not speaking Chinese, having much interest in Asian history or wanting to live in a fascist police state, Mexico was an obvious choice for me. But then, money wasn't much of a consideration. |
