|
|
Hi there,
My Russian work visa has recently finished and my school have tried to get me a new invitation but to no avail. My school say Russian Immigration Sevices are not issuing any new work visas to foreigners.
Has anybody else found themselves in this situation yet and could it end soon? |

The question that should be asked is why didn't they get you a new visa before your old visa expired? It's a much simpler process than you leaving the country and getting an invitation to reapply all over again.
But I haven't heard anything about no more invitations for teachers. Maybe the school isn't telling you the whole truth. |

Our head office visa department has said that they don't know of any issues with visas. *shrug* So who knows? |

Could just be an easy excuse for them not to rehire you. Some schools are facing less demand for lessons due to the falling ruble.
but it shouldn't be about visas, I had job offers with work visas for 2015. |

It's a strange situation as I had around 40 lessons per week plus a waiting list of kids whose parents wanted them to have extra English classes with me and the school were making a killing out of me.
My girlfriend works at the school and she tells me that administration are still trying to sort out an invitation but the Immigration Department won't issue any for my particular school.
Anyway, I'm here on a tourist visa at the moment, tipping vodka down my throat and having a great time with the Russian family so it's not all bad.
Merry Christmas to all, especially at Katie O' Sheas Irish bar. |

It sounds like it may be more of an issue with your particular school. Maybe they didn't apply the appropriate grease to the wheels of progress.
Who knows? This is Russia. The visa rules may have changed because of the weather. |

Nope, not yet.
Everything official is closed until 12th January so it was cognac, vodka and piwo at the dacha last night with the Russian family. |

New visas have not been granted since December 26th, probably while they put together the language/history test which you can only pass if you are virtually fluent in Russian. |

So, they're making it as difficult as possible for foreigners. I've no chance of passing these tests which is a shame as I was on a good number here.
I was refused a work visa at the end of November initially so they even started refusing invitations before the 26th December in preparation.
Three month business visas are easy to get so I might have to get individuals and do some online teaching with ISUS. |

They refused you a work visa on the basis of not passing the test? or did you not even take it...strange. sounds like they are really tightening things now. |

Three month business visa is fine but you can't work with one of those in Russia |
