Hi,
I wanted to know if anyone has any experience of echo English Thailand? I am new to the ESL world and am looking for my first job as an ESL teacher. What I like about this company is they say i will know i have a job before i arrive which is a big worry for me. I also like the six month contract. As the other option i have been looking into is Taiwan and Hess, but this would involve a 12 month contract.
I just know that things that usually seem too good to be true usually are and i have a feeling this is one of those things that may just seem perfect for me as the dates fit for me.
I hope that makes sense.
Thanks
Adam |

They can always guarantee a job before you arrive, but is it a particularly good job? Also keep in mind your students might refuse to attend your classes which means they dump you. Does Echo provide you with another job? You need to be prepared to possibly go job searching when you arrive in Thailand. Make sure you bring ample amounts of money when you come to Thailand. |

Thai schools are always looking for young, TEFL graduate EFL teachers NEW to teaching English in the Land of Smiles....if you are an excellent edutainer and know how to make your students laugh at you while they are learning in class you have a good chance of having a successful TEFL career here. Expect to earn enough money to travel in Thailand during your holidays...but savings for travelling abroad may be difficult on your salary.Good luck! |

People actually pay you to be a clown and you think they're learning? |

Hi rokodale,
I'm also looking for work as an ESL teacher in Thailand, and have been in contact with a few organisations and agencies. I had a look at a website called TEFL Heaven as I am trying to secure some work before I get to Thailand (they offer TEFL training then a guaranteed job placement and a friend of mine is doing that currently through TEFL Heaven & doesn't seem to have had any problems). Their partner agency is Echo English and I've been in contact with someone from there via email.
I was told that the monthly salary for positions is 30,000 Thai Baht per month. Echo English cover the cost of the work permit, and provide non-financial help with obtaining a non immigrant B visa as well as support throughout your time at the school and with Echo English. They say they'll help you find accommodation near to the school you work at.
I'm still doing lots of research and exploring my options, but I may well apply to Echo English. I did a TEFL internship in Thailand in the summer so I have some experience and would apply for the 1 Day Induction and Job program. For that option and the 3 Day TEFL + Job Program you have to do a Skype interview so you can get more of an idea of what they're like as an organisation then. I don't know how reliable they are as a company but when I did my internship in the summer, I had no problems and gained some invaluable experience. Looks like a pretty good place to start from what I can tell! |
