I know of two DoSs in Shanghai, at two of the 'big brand' legit private centres, who are not native speakers. That's just from my limited experience meeting and talking with teachers. There's probably loads more, but those two are running centres. In Shanghai!
The truth is that anything and everything is possible here. It's China. |

| One of my colleagues is a non-native speaker and has a Z visa. We're in the middle of nowhere, and I suspect this is why they bent the rules for him. I've also seen them bend the rules on age restrictions. If you're willing to live in a remote location, then yes, you can probably work here legitimately. |
Thanks for the input. Maybe those non native teachers that got Z visa aren't reported to work as teachers at all... If that's the case, the employer must have some deal with authorities in order to organize such act. |

I'm confused...why shouldn't it be 'possible' for a non-native to get a z visa? |

I think Caucasian and non-Caucasian non-native speakers have different issues here.
That said I worked with an excellent Filipina FT who was rehired each year and at a top tier school. |
