I know of a few people with schools. Some people do well, others don't. Near the station is a bit tricky as that's where other schools tend to congregate, so there's a ton of competition. One of my friends was being undercut by Nova in his area, and Nova was closer to the station at that.
It is entirely possible to do reasonably well running your own school, you just have to realize that this isn't something you can start and make a ton of money from day 1 (year 2 or so is when people start to make money, or at least something worth mentioning). |

Yes, you can be negative about this. Most small businesses are very hard to run successfully. There being so many moving parts, besides just teaching.
Restaurants too, in the US at least, are very hard to run well. A lot of competition, and perishable items make it hard to succeed.
As was said, you can do it, but you have to put in a lot of effort. Also, when you add up your time, is it really worth it? 60+hr work weeks, your pay per hour may end up being pretty low.
Why not, just do privates? I know a guy who does privates, and lives off of that. I am not sure how many hours he is working, but he makes decent money overall. Privates means almost no overhead. No temptation to be open everyday, as you pay the same rent no matter how little or much you teach |

You could live in an apartment building, use the common room. Either reserve it or pay to use it.
I know two teachers who did that.
One lived in UR. He made money but that was years ago. |
