|
|
Hello Everyone,
A former employee of Laureate, who the company is trying to falsely arrest and imprison for speaking to management in Maryland, is filing a complaint with the Saudi Ministry of Labor Office.
Private message me and I will give his email. He speaks native Arabic and English. He wants to compile all the complaints so he can make the best case possible.
This would be a person to complain to, since he might get the attention of the government office that can get Laureate booted from the country. |

You don't have to start a new thread every time you want to make the same accusations about the same company. HELP future people by putting it all in ONE thread!!
Pick a thread and put all your information there.

The Jeddah male campus has a dick-tatorial boss who bullies everyone and makes life miserable for teachers, staff and students alike. He finds it better to make observations unannounced and had one-way mirrors put in the classroom door windows so he can watch without being seen. He is known to burst into the classroom to correct students or teachers alike. In the weekly meetings he will scream at people for talking when he is. When I was there, there were no books, no paper for the worthless photocopiers, no multimedia and the teachers had to work overtime and were never paid for it. He follows up his unscheduled observations with a summons to his office. he will want to know why you weren't following the curriculum!
The students were so unhappy with his lock them out after ten-minutes lateness policy that they took to setting off the fire alarms once or twice a week just to get back at him. The man claims to be an ex-fire marshal, but nevertheless then ordered the teachers not to let the students go if the fire alarm rings!
The boss likes to fire someone at least once a month to keep every one afraid, and kicks out the students for minor infractions, like talking when he is talking. This is quite frightening for them as they are paid by the government to attend. Not all Saudi Arabians are rich, and anyway it's shameful to be tossed out of school.
Unlike virtually any such school anywhere in the world, Laureate leaves it entirely up to the teachers to find housing. They pay your first month in a hotel, but won't lend you money to make a deposit on an apartment, and there is no one on staff to help you. Of course, many new teachers do not speak Arabic. So it's quite a challenge finding housing.
Lateness and absences are not tolerated for any reason. |

The complaints are escalating, including a Ministry of Labor complaint for falsely arresting teachers that complain.
There are three ways current or former employees can solve this. PM me for information:
1. Speak to the corporate HR person who promised to hear any complaints and investigate.
2. Speak to a reporter that I have spoken to. She has written about Laureate before and will do so again, if there is enough strong evidence to justify a story.
3. Speak to a lawyer who specialized in employment law. Martindale.com is the best legal directory. Most lawyers give a free consultation to see if there are enough facts to start a cause of action.
Of course, PM me for the latest updates. |

I spoke to a friend who's been working at their riyadh site and he's enjoying himself. He wasn't aware of any of this stuff but everything seems normal. He was actually recommending the riyadh campus and spoke positively of the management |

Really. I have no clue about that. But, Jeddah and anything with J K is terrible. Ask anyone who has worked with him and they will say how much he is hated for lying, misrepresenting documents, etc.

Laureate is okay. Nothing great but certainly not worse than contractors like EdEx. Blueyed - are you talking about the old college or the new college in Riyadh? The new campus is close to Prince Sultan Univ - the College of Tourism and Hospitality. |
