|
|
Hello guys,
This is the process to legalise (legalize? You're in the wrong place! ) your documents in the United Kingdom:
Option 1:
Give it to a reputable agency who will do it for you! (easy, will cost extra few quid)
Option 2:
1. = Give a photocopy of your document/s alongside the original to a qualified solicitor/lawyer to sign and date with the following statement "I certify that this is a true copy of the original document".
2. = Go on-line to https://www.gov.uk/get-document-legalised follow the steps for legalisation. *note* you cannot take your documents directly to Milton Keynes they must be posted!
3. = Go to Omani Embassy (consulate) visa office and get these documents attested/stamped here. this step is no longer required If your employer or the Omani department of Manpower demands you still have to; then show them this document.
That is all |

May I ask what position this process is needed for? As an Employee of one of the recruitment agencies for MOM colleges I have never been asked for any of this.....only copies of original documents. No lawyers/ solicitors ever involved. |

The MOHE demand it and are making their recruiters follow suit. |

Another hurdle..
Manpower now want my documents legalised by the British Council. Which means I'd have to post my academic docs to Oman; this is not happening!
Any other solutions to get past Manpower?!
Thinking of just packing it in! |

This makes absolutely no sense to me. What does the British Council have to do with "legalizing" anything?
I would think that this would only be possible/necessary if you were in Oman and unable to follow the procedures you mentioned above.
Also, I would never let my original documents out of my hands. In the US all verifications/certifications are done on the copies you mentioned in step one.

Thank you! My thoughts exactly! So, let me break it down. Their argument/qualm is the FCO's apostille (UK government process) of any legal document for international use has no bearing to them as this is merely an indication that the copy stamped and signed by an experienced solicitor/lawyer is an exact copy of the original. But if you go to the Omani embassy they'll send you to the FCO. When you go to manpower for the visa, they'll send you to The British Council in Oman. Btw the British Council in England don't have anything to do with it so you must go to Oman.
Or, simply send your academic qualifications, which have taken the majority of your life to attain and which are literally irreplaceable to Oman! Thank God for your post, my instant reaction was the same as yours, but the ludicrousy of this whole process was making me doubt myself. Thank you sooo much!!
Dumbfounded to say the nicest! |

Who is the "they" that is asking for this. It seems to me that they haven't a clue what they are talking about... and I agree with your last post.
Forget them and do more applications.

'They' would be ministry of manpower (so many expletives).
The offer is for me and my spouse, the convenience is over riding this process and I know from experience patience is the biggest virtue in the dunes.
I'll give it another week, in sha Allah.
Thanks for the ESL shoulder for me to btihc on! |

Oddly, we haven't heard of anyone else being asked to do this. MoM hires many teachers...
Good Luck!

"From 1st February 2014 British educational degrees and vocational certificates will only need to be verified by the British Council. Once verified the document can be taken directly to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for endorsement. It is not necessary for the Embassy to further stamp and legalise the British Council signature. Call the British Council call centre on 800 24680 for more information."
