Anyone know anyone working in these places? If so:
1) What's it like?
2) What are the colleges like?
3) General things like wifi, distance from and to Riyadh, shopping.
4) Anything else!
Thanks very much! i've seen vacancies advertised so was intrigued. The colleges seems to be all British. |

I had a friend who lived in Sakaka a few years ago, he really enjoyed the quiet, lonely life there. There was one shopping mall a few years ago, maybe they opened another one? A lot of wild dogs, so one has to be careful when roaming the streets. Apart from Pizza Hut, you won't find too many fast food joints. |

Sakaka is okay. You have two large supermarkets and a few half decent restaurants. It is quiet... Really nothing to do but I didn't care so much. There is a busy main street with tailors and clothes shops. You are not close to anywhere really. Going to Riyadh by bus is 10 hours or something. Most companies/employers will fly you out there. There is an airport.
Cost of living is cheaper than Riyadh and many teachers were spending around 1200 riyals per month on food/living expenses. |

Best thing about Sakaka is proximity to Dumat Al-Jandal - an old minaret, a ruins, and an oasis. For my personal taste, it's one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Very cold in winter, however. Yes, I really do mean very. Other than that, the climate is favourable. There is no humidity whatsoever.
Nothing more to add really. I doubt it has seen any development for several years. |

1200 SAR per month is considered living cheaply in Saudi Arabia? What would be the low-high range? |

1200SAR monthly expenditure! When I was in Riyadh my shopping came to SAR900 once and I had a fit.
The greatest bill is constantly buying phone cards. |

Talking of which, are you going to complete a full contract this time?
Sometimes, you have to admit to yourself that you and a country are just not suited to one another, no matter how much they are willing to pay you. |
