What's up teachers!

I know this is a vague question, but where's the best place to teach English if you want to get away from the world for a while?

I'm feeling particularly overwhelmed by all the stuff going on around me, and I would love to day dream a little. I am curious to know where you all would recommend moving to if you wanted to live a simple life away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Who knows, maybe I'll sell it all and dissapear.

I haven't tried to do something like that before, so keep that in mind. I'm not the most well-traveled, but I think I could make a few suggestions.

First, if you want to do this somewhere while teaching, odds will likely be long. Jobs tend to be concentrated in cities because that's where people are. So if you want to remain a teacher while getting away from it all, you'll have your work cut out for you. I think it is possible, but you'll have to deal with two issues: 1. fewer jobs, and 2. lower pay. Assuming you can accept that, then you could really try looking into it.

Second, you should research population density in various countries you are interested in. China, India, and much of Asia would be out. You could, however, go to villages in, say, China, and have this effect. Just think of the boredom though. Be prepared for that. I've felt really bored in China and I lived in a city of a few million!

I would think Russia might be a good possibility. Australia only has around 25 million people, so that's possibly the lowest population density in the world. The U.S. has 300 something million people but that's actually a low population density considering the size of the country. And since the U.S. has very developed rural areas, you could possibly achieve this without leaving home (well, if you're an American anyway...)

All you have to do is go to Dave's Job Board and search the word 'rural'. I found two current ones in Cambodia, and one each in Tanzania, Bolivia and France just by doing that. Nearly every day there are new ones, albeit not always rural.

"Get away from Society" You mean like Robinson Crusoe ? How will you do that and find people to teach ? Have you thought this one through ?

Some parts of inner-city London have almost no society at all, and little spoken English either. But it is as the Iron Lady wanted...
