I got an email from a famous chain school, or at least someone claiming to be their agent, offering me a new teaching job at 18,000 rmb a month with no weekends and a 2,000 housing allowance IF i met the "new" 2015 China foreign teacher qualification requirements. Well, the offer got my interest but as I read on the author of the email got creative and tried to convince me there were some "recent changes" that I was not aware of.

I got digging on line and visited the SAFEA and China embassy website and found out the 2015 China foreign teacher requirements today are EXACTLY as they were in 2014 and 2013! But the joker who sent me the email was telling me I could only claim his job if I completed a certain brand of TEFL course that he was graciously offering to enroll me in! So, if you guys get a similar email, here are the official 2015 China expat teacher requirements that you can verify yourself at the below links:

* Valid Passport & Z visa

* Bachelor Degree In Any Subject

* 2 Year Previous Work Experience

* Fluency In English

* Police Certificate (For Beijing Now & Shanghai Soon)

* 21-60 Years Of Age

Regulations are exactly as you stated, and no TEFL required.
However.............on the advice of the FAO of my last job (government, legit Uni - totally kosher - great place) I did an online TEFL, with ITTT - think it cost me less than $200 - and it was tough - especially the exam, which had to be completed in less than the 24 hour limit - yeah, I basically stayed up all night to complete it.
Know what? As the FAO told me, it got me an extra 500 rmb/month - which was nice, as I was at the top of the Uni pay-scale for a B.Sc/M.Sc/Ph.D.

So, it paid for itself in less than 2 months, and heck, was it worth it......had not a clue what a gerund was until I took the course, LOL.......pssst.....still not sure.......heck, we Brits don't learn grammar.
