Total deductions in China?

http://www.chinalawblog.com/2013/11/china-employer-taxesemployee-taxes-are-we-having-fun-yet.html

Comments below the article from H Janson seems to suggest much lower deductions than what appears. But is it true?

What are the total per centage deductions that are coming off your paychecks?

My school says it's 25% on anything over 5,000yuan, but there's some sort of exception (possibly because I'm a foreigner) so I don't actually pay that much. I haven't got my first full paycheck yet, but it's supposed to come out to something like 10% of my 15k pay.

0% for me. BTW, if you're not aware, you can claim your taxes at the end of your stay. Just inquire, because they will not just tell you about it. Same goes for the money you pay for the social insurance. The only issue with that is you need to wait about a month in order to get reimbursed for either one of them. Many schools/companies don't bother telling you about it without your inquiring about it, due to the need to get a visa extension and all that good fun stuff.

Cheers,

Aaron

The only source I have is my hr department at the hotel I worked at. Regardless of the job, foreigners should inquire with there hr or fao for further information. I was able to get all my taxes and insurance reimbursed back to to me after 2.5 years of service. Again, I had to ask the hr specifically, otherwise, they wouldn't tell me otherwise.

Cheers,

Aaron
