I am unable to access my Yahoo email account for security reasons. That means Yahoo recognized, when I arrived in China a few weeks ago, that my new IP was at an unusual address - fine and I am happy for that security - the problem continued, with Yahoo asking me to access my other email address (Gmail) to get hold of the code. Same problem there - because going into Gmail - the security was tight there and asked me to retrieve a code from a cell phone number (no longer in operation!) which I had been using as security in Saudi Arabia, where I worked for the past 6 years. I am no longer in Saudi Arabia, so can no longer access that cell phone number.
To cut a long story short and to avoid confusion, I cannot access my Yahoo email nor my Gmail email accounts and was wondering if anyone here had a suggestion on alternative ways of 'recapturing' my original Yahoo email account. Please note - I have a relative in the U.S. who can access my Yahoo account (and has my password) but I don't want to bother that person with requests to forward email and do the housework for me.
Thank you.

Option 1 - Can the relative access your Gmail and call/Skype you with the code?
Option 2 - Gmail is sometimes available through third party software (Livemail, Outlook,....) or other ISPs. I can get Gmail at home but not at work. |

Mainly, this is not a job related post.
Second, this is the kind of thing that spur of the moment and not thinking things through about moving to a censorship-laden country like China incur. Access to GMail, your cell phone number, etc. are all things that you should have considered.
I have ZERO problems accessing GMail simply using Ultrasurf - assuming you can download Ultrasurf without Ultrasurf in the first place - assuming you know where to download it without the need of using Ultrasurf.
Have your relative make the necessary changes to your account to allow you to access your account on your own - e.g., the account recovery options on the account security. It is common sense to make these changes. SUCH AS SECONDARY EMAIL FOR EMERGENCY ACCOUNT RECOVERY . . . hint hint hint.
It's a simple process to recover access. |
