Travel Advisory for Hsin Chu, Taiwan
A travel advisory has been issued for Hsin Chu, Taiwan following an armed attack on numerous foreign residents and tourist including American, Australian and South African nationals. Neither the local police nor the central government of the Republic of China on Taiwan have acknowledged an attack on May 23, 2004 that left a South African couple hospitalized in serious condition from multiple lacerations and stab wounds.
These attacks on non-Chinese were initiated by unknown criminal elements operating unhampered in Hsin Chu, Taiwan in the days preceding the second largest international computer trade show (Computex) in Hsin Chu, Taiwan the following week.
All foreign nationals are strongly recommended to avoid travel or stays of long duration in Hsin Chu, Taiwan.
This advisory has been issued by the defacto Foreign Teachers Union on Taiwan, SSETT.

Here we go again. Don't believe this guy.
While in Hsin Chu, you may choose to stay at the Royal Hotel in Hsin Chu for a night of luxurious pampering. Or stroll along the river and dine in one of the many fine bistros that dot the romantically lit path. Hop on a scooter and within 1/2 an hour, you are whisking along the central coast looking at the sun drop into the ocean.
I worked in Hsin Chu for six months and had a great time. I dined at the P/W many times and hit the disco upstairs for a 12/31 celebration one year. I survived. Wow.
Still, anyone who does any research will know to avoid this particular pub right now without Chicken Little's silly little whatchamacallems. Hsin Chu is fine, a little windy, but nice really.
Aristotle...for cryin out loud, shut up. |

How about this defacto teacher's union stuff? Isn't a union of one redundant? Impossible?
I'd rather eat bark than join anything you are involved with AssThrottle. |

Looks like we have offended managment again.
I don't know why Pop Fly is so uptight. I have never mentioned any reports made concerning Wall Street.
Don't you guys have to go steal someone's pay check or something?

I am not with WSI anymore Chicken Little....say whatever you want.
I am uptight cuz you are a wingnut spreading insane garbage in a self-sanctimonious fashion and I want people who may not know this about you to beware of your conspiracy theory tendencies. I will post after every one of your Travel Advi-whatevers warning people not to take you seriously. Or at least until I get brian'd.....
Why...cuz I'm bored.
But I'll bite.

I lived in Hsinchu for several years. "the river" has actually been put to clever use as part of the city's sewage /storm runoff system. On a hot, humid night you can smell for yourself what the pee/poo content of a city of 350 000 is like. And as for the "many fine bistros" this is absolutely true if your idea of fine international dining is KFC and 50 pizza. Still, one man's meat is another's poison...... Forget Paris, give me Hsinchu. |

Did Brian finally get fired from his cushy civil service job for spending his days surfing the net. I noticed a distinct absence of pro ROC propaganda as of late.
I assume with the election coming up the GIO has better things to do.
Good luck,

I also lived in Hsinchu for a few years, although I was not working as a teacher. I would go for long walks around the city almost nightly, and never once felt like I was in any kind of danger. The most dangerous thing about Hsinchu is that you might die of boredom. I had a free 5 star hotel room, car rental, and meal expenses, and I still thought it was horrible. It was an interesting experience, but i woundn't move there by choice. Even so, it was still better than Tainan. |
