Anybody got any info good or bad about these places ?
They've two colleges one in Abqaiq and another in Al hasa (Hofuf)
International institute for languages seems to be the main contractor who I'd be working for and there's a lot of bad stuff about them online pre 2010.
Cheers in advance. |

Hi,
I worked for them from May 1st to the end of June. I didn't like my experience dealing with IIL. I interviewed with a man named Frank and he lied to me about the conditions of the job, apartment and location.
There was a huge turnover of staff and at the time, we were grossly undermanned so everyone worked overtime. The students were great and the NITI employees were nice.
I didn't like the job because of :
- the 3 hour commute every day on an old rickety van. It was common to almost get in an accident and we traveled on dangerous highway everday.
-IIL would mess around with our contracts and tinker with hours and overtime which was already stipulated in the conracts.
-IIL forgot about me arriving at the airport for close to two hours and they needed me to teach that day after taking a 14 hour flight to arrive in Damman.
- Lack of professional respect to the Senior Teacher and there were was an instance of fisticuffs in the office between an unruly colleague and a fellow teacher.
The pros of the job is that the compound is nice, the students are friendly and the NITI employees are very personable and will do their best to help you.
I hope this helps!

Haven't really heard so much about the contractor. Have heard NITI salaries are low even though Aramco is a partner in the project.
As regards students, grades etc, I would imagine it's the same in many places.....99% pass rate. Based on my own exp. in KSA, the really pititful situation extends to staff dreaming up various ways to enhance the learning experience for "Ahmed" and "Ali" then the same person dreaming up a truly ridiculous title for himself for "enhancing" the learning experience for students who don't deserve to pass but do.
Been out to the caves in Al hasa and the camel market, about a 2hr drive from Dammam. Abqaiq is on the way to Al hasa but we didn't go there. Nice trip. Not sure I would want to live there but if the money is right for you then why not? |
