This is a post review of my experience at icoach servicios, Ecuador. I spent a total of 8 months working here with my contract ending Feb. 28.2015.
Overall my experience was truly an exceptional one. I really don't even want to leave here but there's just too much of the world to see to stay in one place for too long.
Icoach is a great opportunity to develop your teaching skills as a new or experienced teacher. You are given a guide to follow and based on your level of teaching you can follow it directly or you have the freedom to exercise new material. Icoach is a very comfortable and relaxed work environment.
Money:
I had read a story of a teacher not getting paid. I was a little worried at first. But I can tell you that in the 8 months working here I never had any problems with respects to pay. I was always paid on time and in full. Most of the time my cheques were bigger because of the opportunity to work overtime. Over time was not guaranteed but seemed to always be available if I wanted it. Overtime is paid time in a half.
Academic coordinator: Mr. Mendoza.
Mr. Mendoza is a professional to the max. He also expects his teachers to be professional as well. If your students are learning and having fun he will be your bestfriend and do anything to help you. If your coming to work late or not being professional in anyway he will be the first to set you Straight. He is very direct and blunt with his expectations. Which I appreciate in a leader. He is also very accommodating, on numerous occasions he helped with out with the schedule when he didn't have to. I also had the opportunity to work in different cities all across Ecuador. Ocassionly Mr. Mendoza makes breakfast for the teachers. The food is incredible. Part of me thinks his wife is the one who cooks it.
Mr. Mendoza also plans and encourages you to take part in extra circular activities with the students. This month they were planning to teach classes on the beach. Last month we went to the mall and also traveled to see an indigenous tribe in the jungle. Always fun stuff happening.
Feel free to contact me anytime in the future if you have questions regarding Icoach, or Esmeraldas.
