I'm in touch with a guy serving a long stretch in prison here in Japan, and he has a request that I'm struggling to fulfil. Here's what he asked for in his letter:

Quote:
What publisher imports, if they do, these magazines in Japan: Vibe, XXL, Hip-Hop Soul, Hip-Hop Weekly. Japanese publishers like DIP or DIA PRESS, or SAN-EI SHOBO or anything like that. Or, if you can't find those magazines, maybe any other magazines, in english, regarding hip-hop, r&b, jazz, reggae and house music. Thank you. Just write me the names of the magazines and the prices, publishers which imports and distributes them, and I'll buy them from here.

So far, my results are:

Vibe: No idea where to start with these guys. The only contact details they give are press contacts.

XXL: They have a Customer Service phone number. I'll call next week.

Hip-Hop Soul: Doesn't seem to exist any more.

Hip-Hop Weekly: I've e-mailed their customer service. Waiting for an answer.

Other magazines: No idea. I don't know the first thing about music magazines.

Can anyone help me improve on this?

Maybe Kinokuniya in Shinjuku or
that record store in Shibuya, Tower Records.
