I am looking at a job in Sopot that pays roughly 1200 Zlotych a month. Is that enough or do I need more? Thanks for the help in advance!

Dear SaraLynne,
I think you'd be hard pushed to find anyone here who would work for, what looks like, such a miserable salary..of course it depends..is it a part time or full time job? Are accommodation and flights paid for??
Personally, I wouldn't even consider working for that..and Sopot isn't all that cheap a place either..look for something which offers more money..it shouldn't be too hard to find
Ibasiram.

So I take it that 1600 Zlotych in Warsaw is also no good (for a full time job). What is a good amount of money? If anyone knows, I would greatly appreciate it. About how much does a place cost to rent - I feel that if I know this then I can make assumptions on how much I will need for food and what not. Thanks so much for everyone's help!!!

1600 for a full time job in Warsaw is a complete joke. You should be making three times that much working at a private language school. Rent on a liveable one room flat anywhere within 20 minutes of the city centre will be 1200PLN per month plus phone bill. Food can cost you 50PLN a week but realistically it's double that. Living on less than 4000PLN per month is not a lot of fun. You won't be able to go out much or do any travelling round Poland.

What schools are offering such stupid salaries? If you don't want to post the names then please send them to me as a private message.

you didn't mention how many hours a week you'll be teaching. you can easily triple that salary by taking private lessons and doing proof reading work. i'm in poznan and there is a ton of work like that to be found here.
