|
|
Has anyone had any contact with this employer? They don't list their name and I have seen this advert run a few times. It also seems odd that a school would be recruiting this late in the year but perhaps there is a legitimate reason for this? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks. http://www.eslcafe.com/joblist/index.cgi?read=35389 |

Seems to me as excessive number of openings at all levels for such a supposed established school with so many branches that won't even mention its name.

This is peak hiring season for k-12 and higher ed, so there's nothing unusual about this ad's timing. Plus, the UAE has a great need for qualified international school teachers: |

What I find concerning is that the ad doesn't mention the name of the school. Why would they not? No name and an outlook email account. The email may be because of a limited size on the employer email inboxes... but
Be sure to note the scam notice in red at the top of every job ad now on Dave's. The Emirates is a top target of the scammers.
Apply if you have the credentials, but if they ask for any money... run!!

I wouldn't worry because when we place ads at my school, we don't list either because other schools try to go after our current staff.
However be aware that in Abu Dhabi you must have a teaching degree and/or license from the UK, USA, Canada, or somewhere in the West. If you do not, you cannot teach in Abu Dhabi. In Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman that is not the case and having teaching experience without a current license and/or teaching degree won't stop you. But you will have to have an "Equivalency" done with your degree and sit before the local education council for an interview. Neither are difficult. |

However, those positions are obviously advertised and filled locally unless the employer is paying to fly unlicensed/uncertified applicants from the US, UK, New Zealand, etc., for that crucial in-person interview with the education council. |

These aren't just local. Even if your Pakistani schools will pay for visas and flights. A school vroup I know well brings unlicensed teachers from the US and pays well, flights, accomodation, car allowance, etc. |

I'm sure others would appreciate a list of these well-paying schools---or at least, the top three and their salary ranges.
However, there's still that bigger issue: Why are these schools forking out big money to hire unlicensed western teachers from abroad given that the country's Ministry of Education has mandated that all private school teachers now be licensed? See "All private & public school teachers to be licensed" (http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=107846). |

Also, I don't expect schools to exhibit grammatical errors in public advertisements, such as their randomly incorrect use of capital letters. |

That's sometimes cultural---subjects and titles get capitalized. It's not a red flag to me. Besides, a clerk could have submitted the ad. |

The scam notice on Dave's is new. I guess people are so desperate for jobs that they fall for the "Processing Fee" scam. This world is full of Wickedness. |
