I read on Reddit that Heart English School will tell new hires to come to Japan on a tourist visa and then the company will help them convert their visa to a work visa once they are in the country. I also read that some people will come over and then find out last minute that they have no job because the BOE didn't renew their contract with Heart.
Do other ALT dispatch companies besides Heart do this shaddy tactic as well to try to get new recruits into Japan ASAP?
One guy had an interview with Heart on a Tuesday, found out he got the job on Friday that week, and was asked to come to Japan three days later on Monday. That's not a lot of time to get a work visa. |
Ive heard of this, it doesnt sound like particularly good

It makes me want to avoid them completely, because I don't want to get screwed on arrival.
My question is, do other ALT dispatch companies or even eikaiwas do this too? |

Heat is pretty awful. I am sure that the times with no pay are more and longer than with other dispatch companies.
Also with the no visa deal. They could have you come over and basically have you over the barrel, as you can't leave and get another job.
Steer clear of situations like this. You are only asking to get abused. |

Heart are the absolute dregs.....they used to provide the paperwork/ documents to enable teachers to get the work visa prior to arrival until 4-5 years ago........would even provide visa's for the spouse. I guess they got burnt too many times by people obtaining a work visa and just going elsewhere to work after arriving in Japan.......lack of trust. |

I have a buddy who recently went to Japan to work for Heart but they gave him the paperwork for his visa though he had a hard time finding a job teaching so maybe heart was his last choice |
