Has anyone done an IELTS 4 days course where there are no exams, but basic principles are explained so that the teacher has groundwork to implement this knowledge in colleges and FE?
I've seen it advertised and am wondering whether it's a good idea to go for it.
Thanks as always. |

Thanks for that. It seems a good idea to have another qualification. |

I did a similar (maybe the same) course with the BC. Can't hurt to do it. |

Absolutely. IELTS is always going to be in demand, so why not add another string to your bow!
And actually teaching IELTS is pretty fun too. |

IELTS Training is worth doing, but does this course lead to a qualification as IELTS Examiner ? |

No Scot, this is just a preliminary course:
Day 1: Overview of IELTS; teaching approach and differences compared to general English classes; structuring a theme-based IELTS course – the use of course books and supplementary materials; materials development and sourcing; using IT.
Day 2: Focus on IELTS Speaking & exam techniques; focus on IELTS Writing Task 1 & exam techniques.
Day 3: Focus on IELTS Writing Task 2 and exam techniques; focus on IELTS Listening and exam techniques; the importance of spelling; self-study and practice.
Day 4: Focus on IELTS Reading; focus on IELTS grammar and vocabulary; common mistakes at IELTS. |

This looks like the same BC course I did. You get a certificate of attendance which may impress a future employer! |

The course was interesting but not sure if It will ever help me as I have higher qualifications and just did it for PD reasons. |

I did other PD courses at KSU and PNU so might as well add to them.
Thanks. |

It's only going to impress bottom feeder schools.
Being an IELTS examiner would trump it, as it is generally assumed that an IELTS examiner is already in possession of such knowledge.
And to be honest, being an IELTS examiner means jack-sheet. It's about as impressive as a skinny guy turning up to a body-building competition ... better than a fatty turning up, yes, but not by far
Of course, if the course is free, just do the bloody thing ... |

was it useful?
i teach a lot of people prepping for the ielts, and while i'm pretty confident that my lessons are good value, if this course helps a teacher focus better on exam requirements, i'd be interested.
i don't want to go the full road of examiner training, but 4 days, if it was useful, would be a good compromise. |
