It is puzzling that anyone outside Scotland gives a damn ! In the greater scheme of things , the issue probably ranks with the Language Question in Macedonia or Bolivian Access to the Pacific.
I am interested because I actually live here, in Ultima Thule ! (With the weather we have been getting that is how Scotia feels !) |

scot 47,
Of course we are interested in what happens to Scotland, and that Scots might feel better off as an independent country.
Nicola Sturgeon wants another referendum on independence as soon as she is confident of winning. The SNP's electoral success lies in its reputation - deserved or otherwise - for competence. She knows better than most that another referendum would be a major gamble. If won, she would get her place in history. If lost, her career would be over and her party would suffer. She will wait until there is evidence that a clear majority exists over a sustained period.
At present 56 SNP MPs with 50 per cent of the vote is not evidence of this. |

I was curious as to how the newbies would treat the Oath of Allegiance to Mrs Windsor.
They took the oath on Monday - doubtless with some finger-crossing and muttering.

In the past other MPs have taken the Oath or Affirmation after the opening remark - "As a committed Republican,............." |
