If you are teaching in Jordan or have taught there, I would be interested in hearing about your experience. Also, practical information such as wages and visas would also be of interest.

Thanks.

The Pallies will figure you for an American and rag you incessantly. I am an American, and their constant b i t c h i n g drove me out. I was a Pally lover before I went there, but I got over that in a hurry.

Amman is not a very exciting place to live. It's interesting because it's in the middle of the geopolitical hothouse, but when you get tired of arguing politics with the locals you will suddenly realize that there ain't much else to do there.

Except drink.

Wages are generally not good compared to the Gulf. It's not hard to get a work visa as long as you have a bona-fide job offer.

Ok, so I agree that Amman really isn't a hive of activity, but if you get the chance, travelling around Jordan is rewarding. Jerash (a whole hour and a half from Amman) is nice, with some amazing scenery, and then you've also got Aqaba, Petra, and the Dead Sea to keep you occupied.
It's really quiet in Jordan. REALLY quiet. So take a good book... Very Happy
Nice to visit - don't think I'd particularly want to live there though... Sorry I can't help on the technical stuff!!!!
