Do most people working in Saudi experience this or is this isolated behavior?

After an interview.....no correspondence for weeks sometimes?

After receiving an offer, visa/paperwork process is incredibly slow?

I'm also wondering if ramadan being days away is contributing to the foot dragging.

I had to reschedule an interview once and I didn't hear back for a week! I was starting to freak out but now I'm wondering if this is just to be expected with some universities.

This is not isolated behaviour, but a very common situation. And this is not really anyone's subjective behaviour, but visa processing is a slow process objectively, especially in the high season, when HR hire many a time hundreds of new faculty from many countries.
My HR officer whom I approach when I lose my cool, admonishes politely but firmly patience, as the process ''is incredibly slow''. My job offer has a code number 400sth for the year 2015, and was issued back in April, and the uni is still hiring new faculty, so imagine the amount of paper work, multiplied by hundreds of applications, the HR are now coping with.

I know that many people simply lose their temper and call it a day with Saudi and grab something else somewhere else, as they are unable to stand insecurity of endlessly waiting and waiting [ like the famous ''Casablanca'' characters stuck in the desert.... ]

consider this is all as training for the unbelievable cr*p you'll have to put up with here on almost a daily basis. If you can get through the hiring process and actually get to the country without freaking out, you stand a chance.

... but only chance.

Ah yes the many gifts and blessings of Allah. Did you not know Oh Doubtful One, that a camel fart can be multiplied many times to accommodate the wishes of the believer and unbeliever alike, as well as the number of months that go by before a Saudi lifts a stamp from its ornate box.

From day of the interview to the day of departure less than a month. But before that I waited for EdEx crooks 6 month with no result. They haven't refunded my deposit yet but Iam not holding my breath.
