South Jeddah ? Drugs, alcohol, prostitution and illegal immigrants with no documentation. There are multi-generational families who have no Saudi documentation. Mecca also has an area like this.

The pimps, rent-boys and dealers take special interest in Honky visitors.

Seriously? Then why do people go Bahrain, just start diverting them south of Jeddah Laughing

Dear mnruman,

Probably because getting caught in Jeddah and getting caught in Bahrain would have different outcomes.

Regards,

I'd say 24,000SAR is the minimum one should take to live in Saudi Arabia. And no that doesn't include benefits, I'm talking about 24,000 in cold hard cash each month, PLUS an apartment, flights, etc.

What qualifications (degree level and major, TEFL cert, and number of years of experience) would net that salary? Also, which employers do you suggest job seekers focus on if they want to earn 24,000 SAR per month (exclusive of benefits and allowances)?

I'd say prospective victims should be focusing on military/oil type contracts which can and do pay that much. I'm talking about an MA (in TEFL) level teacher with a year or two of post-qualification experience. No way should anyone with an MA be accepting 13000SAR a month to live in Saudi Arabia.

And yes, this does mean that I consider most Saudi jobs to not be worthwhile. That's not much different from ESL jobs worldwide though - there's a whole lot of crap offers you have to filter through to get to the good ones.
