Chinese visas are complicated? How? L and F you can get the same day you apply from many agents in Hong Kong. Z visas are straightforward as long as you're qualified to get one and your employer is authorized to hire foreign staff. Things get complicated when unqualified people enter China to work on the wrong visa, business or tourist, then they find their employer can't or won't get them an RP and they end up working illegally.

Huh? So what kind of document do you recommend for entering China?

I would find it very difficult to endorse or accept the advice listed in favour of BeijingTeach based on what I can read in this thread. If mkaplan225 was more communicative and listed more information it might be easier to make an informed choice. Single sentence posts saying very little in terms of real information make me wary TBH.

The visa information suggested is wrong. It is very easy to enter and apply for a Z visa if (as already suggested) you are legally qualified, and your employer is also legally permitted to employ foreign staff. Unfortunately, many employers in China are not allowed to, and will ask people to come over on the wrong visa with a promise (sometimes fufilled, sometimes not) to change the visa later.

There are plenty of places in China and plenty of jobs in China.

It would be a fair assumption I think, if I suggested that BeiJing, being the capital city, is likely to be more stringent in applying employment laws and rules.

It might also be a fair assumption to make that a recruiter who is asking people to travel to China for work on the incorrect visa, may not also do things by the book.

Those two things added together would concern me.

Do people find work in China in this way? Of course they do ... but when you are finding work like this (a) through a recruiter in (b)the capital city ... you are increasing your risk and exposure to problems IMHO.

So it's probably not a good idea to go to China with the F-Business visa first, then after about three months head tom Hong Kong? I'm still confused. How would I be able to re-enter China from Hong Kong for example, and then get my Z visa which is what I thought was needed before I go to China?

Plus the national FBI check isn't needed for China either, I was told.

Where I work in Beijing we have every teacher on proper Z-Visa work permits.

In Haidian district the police were out checking a lot of teachers visas in various schools 2 months ago.. Apparently now if they find you the local stations are allowed to keep a portion of the money they fine the school/teacher for department improvements.

All I can say is what the police officer told us. If they catch people on a student visa they might get off with a fine and a promise never to do it again. He said he police around the world know students are poor and need to make a little extra money but they have a proper reason to be in China . If however you come here on an F or L visa to work at a school your as good as deported if they catch you because you are here for only illegal reasons.

If a school cant get you the paperwork before you come... There is a reason. They might get a fine, but you will get sent home.

I got a job offer from this company yesterday. I spoke to the main guy on the phone and it seems like they have everything together. I do have a hard time finding reviews on here and other places online. The job offer is attractive but would love to know if anyone else has worked with them, besides that one guy that just says that they're great, doesn't really help Rolling Eyes

thanks,

kate

I had a phone interview with Eric, and it seems legit. I'm waiting on a contract. Anything i should be concerned about with this company? Anyone have experience besides the one guy?

Once you are in CHINA he will pawn you off to Rebecca Tang and he disappears out of the equation. Look this guy works for a REALLY BAD WOMAN NAMES REBECCA TANG who is famous for screwing people, getting people thrown into jail and not helping them out at all. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING WITH HIM. Him/Rebecca are banking off you. If he tells you "it's legal to enter on a business visa" HE IS LYING. You can get thrown into jail, fined, deported for this. This is illegal and they are cracking down in China on this. They will not help you to the fullest when you arrive, the only thing Rebecca cares about is money and if you get thrown into jail she doesn't know you. She is a heartless person and the fact Eric Winder sells people to her puts him in the same category. DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING HE TELLS YOU. NOTHING. If you do not enter in a working Z VISA IT IS A LIE OR A SCAM that they have somehow managed to do in order to you into harm's way. If you do not have a college degree, Rebecca will tell you to buy a fake one online and she will take care of it. The apartment you see online is not the one they give you. There are no sheets, utensils, anything in the apartment except a hard bed and hopefully heating when in winter. Eric and Rebecca are heartless people and should not be trusted and not given one more dime. They do not are about their teachers. They care about the money you get them.

I had a feeling he was shady, seemed like kind of a car salesman. I rejected his offer anyways. I'm waiting on an offer from a school now, going with someone different.

Hah, you either work for them, or they did a real good job convincing you that Z visas are unnecessary (protip: they're not).
