Hello fellow Esl'ers.

I haven't seen any posts that address my specific situation so I will post.

Is it necessary to re- verify degrees that have been verified for a previous contract or company within the last 2 years? In other words, can it be used for a new visa with a different company.

If the previous company is mentioned in the authentication, is that a problem? Please share.

Yes you need to do it again. I tried using a copy of my authenticated degree that was used for my previous employer and SACM wouldn't accept it.

A friend of mine submitted the following: 1) the photocopy of her diploma that the SACM had stamped with the previous employer's name; 2) the completed distance learning form (it wasn't required several years ago); 3) her transcripts (which the SACM had previously returned to her); 4) a clean photocopy of her diploma for the SACM to stamp with her new employer's name; and 5) payment for authentication. That worked for her. This was about a year ago.

Thanks Fidelio and nomad. I am curious to know where I can find the distance letter form. Will a letter from my registrar stand in its stead?

Also, when you mention a 'clean" copy of the degree, are you referring to the original copy. I would like to note that the SACM never stamped the original, rather the stamp is on the photocopy.

No, I mentioned that it was a clean photocopy of her diploma that she'd sent. Anyway, I posted the link to the distance learning form here: http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=111280

Good stuff nomad!

I have read in a few other places that a letter from the registrar will work in the place of the distance form. Does this still hold true?

Yes, see the other link I'd provided on that thread.

@nomad

Do you have any idea as to how long ago your friend's first degree was attested. I am wondering if there is an expiry for attested degrees.

Static/permanent records and documents don't have an expiration date regardless of when they were attested, authenticated, or notarized.

If you have the attested degree paper, dont go through SACM, that part is done. Even if it was for another company in the past, I know someone who got a new visa without doing that again in the States.

Your mileage may vary.

Dear Melange,

I'm pretty sure that what ex500 meant was just because his friend got a new visa, etc. that doesn't necessarily mean that it will work that way for you.

In Saudi, variations are the norm. What works for one may not work for another, either because of differences in context or simply because many decisions are, shall we say, whimsical.

That's why, if someone says, "No can do," it's always a good idea to keep asking others who have the power to do it. As often as not, you'll come across one who says, "Ma fi mushkila" (no problem).

But perhaps ex500 will come back on here and translate for you.

Regards,
John

Melange:

It seems you're overly concerned about a process that's really fairly straight forward and easy. You already have your key documents and only need to request completion of the distance learning verification from your university's registrar. Anything you submit to the SACM will be returned to you if they don't require it for their records.

Basically what John said.

Saudis don't have hard and fast rules that are always followed. I know people that got a visa with a degree attested for another company. That doesn't mean they may change their mind at some point and say hey this piece of paper has the name of another company than the one you are applying for a visa with... go attest your degree again. However, I highly doubt they'd make you do this.

For example, dude attests degree for one company. A couple of weeks later, offer is rescinded or he changes his mind and take another offer. Does he waste time and attest again? Why? Use an experienced visa agent, they'll guide to you best.
