Anyone know if any of their freshmen attempted the GK more than once?
The two reasons are (a) to get a better grade and thus entry into a more prestigious school, or
(b) just to get a grade that is the minimum to gain entry. This would likely be seen in 3-year associate degree schools/vocationals. |

I have had several students in the past who scored badly in the Gao Kao, but they had to repeat the final year of high school to resit the exam. I'm not sure that you can just enter independently without repeating this final year - I'll find out.
They are now studying at a UK university. |

My understanding is that if you want to re-sit you do the final high school year over again.
What I'm getting to on this line of enquiry is some idea of the length of time our freshmen have had no Oral English.
There is no OE component in the GK so freshmen arriving in our Oral classes may have had no practical experience for a year and the repeaters 2 years. |
