Hello people, hope all is well. I'm a new member but I have been browsing this site for a while.
Anyway, does anyone have any information on the time it takes for a saudi work visa to materialise.
I was told it will now take between 4-6 weeks as the saudi bureau now attest all certificates.

Mine was done in a week with Britannia on Star Street (it's opposite the Azerbaijan visa office)

However, they're pretty damn pricey...so shop around

It might take ages if your employer is messing around. Even if quick, you have to get the medical and prepare your documents. I am waiting myself for the green light to start the ball rolling and haven't heard anything yet.

I think 4-6 weeks is about right.. Most employers want you over for mid August but the teaching won't start until September.

That's who I've gone through. When did you visit Britannia?
I went there first Monday of July. Not heard anything yet.

So do we know when the academic year starts officially for gov unis?

I think it may easily take up more than 4- 6 weeks - mine will for sure- depending on who employs you and what attestation procedures they demand your documents to go through as well as which documents they want you to attest.

So do we know re my Q1?

Employers been fine. I was sent the final contract and then was told to start my visa application. I know of a few people who got their visa in 7 working days but they went to Britannia a few days before me.
So I'm guessing the new legislation must have come in this week.

You really should be asking your HR rep when you're expected to be in country; that's more important than the academic year start date.

Did you have your degrees and certs notarised already? You did the medical during that week? Yes, Britannia is fast but one week for everything sounds too good to be true.

I had my contract offer in March and still haven't been told to apply for the visa.. My last two Saudi employers took AGES (two and a half months and six weeks after supposed start date of mid August). I suspect this will be quicker!

Nope Britannia was going to take care of that. Yes I had my medical the same day. You give your documents to Britannia and then they send you for a medical.
Notarising doesn't take long maybe a day or two. But as I mentioned originally, the saudi bureau want full attestation of certificates not just notarising.
Hence why a procedure that would take 7-9 days will now take 4-6 weeks.

What can be done in a week??
Attestation of originals, especially if you have many Letters of Employment issued by universities in many countries, and you have to deal with SCAM offices in these countries, and not by email, but regular postal service, which is a must?
What can be done in a week?? Perhaps if you only have a thin degree, and nothing else to attest?
This writing about a visa to KSA in 7 days is simply foolish and untrue, unless contracts with agencies and recruiters have their separate shadowy ways and swashbuckle solutions.
Otherwise, if you go for a direct hire uni with many years of experience to prove, not a chance.

Perhaps "credentials" consisting of a couple of degrees with 127/128 X 100 percent face to face teaching, or 28/30 X 100 percent depending on the degree level. Who knows? What the hell, it's there laws and their country, right? They can be quite agreeable though when something occurs and they want to make trillions off of it, but lack everything. They were lucky and now they're doomed.

Another matter the teachers would chuckle with astonishment and sometimes even make barbs over dysfunctional teachers, but that was never on the same level with their talk about Saudis.

I'm not talking about direct hire. Previoulsy in the UK the saudi cultural bureau wasn't involved in attestation of original document.
New measures have been put in place this last week or so that means full attestation takes place now.
Most consular services in london advertised that work visas take 7-9 days, working days that is, so not strictly a week as put it.
Closer to two weeks I would say.
I have no reason to lie otherwise why would I start the thread asking about the new time frame for visas?

I've gone through Britannia for visas more than once. The first time took about 7 days. The secobd time took 4 days. However, I didn't need to have any documents attested.

If the rules have changed (and it sounds like they have) I would trust Brutannia's time frame. They do visa processing for EdEx, SBC, Al Hussan and QEHC as well as direct hires for at least two universities. They know what they are doing and they are also 'western' enough to try to manage people's expectations.

I think government universities start back on 16th August with teaching starting either the following week or the week after that. Not long until Eid! 😃

Rules have definitely changed as of last week, all applications now require full attestation.
This was confirmed by Britannia. I missed the last batch of attestation free applications by a few days, oh well.
