My boyfriend and I are looking into teaching in Shanghai and we have been in contact with the Xiwai International School. Does anyone know anything about this school? Or could you recommend another school to us in Shanghai? |

Researching Xiwai Int'l School - Shanghai on this forum, and the only thread I could find was this one from 2008.
Anyone have current information about this school?
Thanks,

This from 2014.

I don't know the SH expat group but maybe they have a message board which you can use to contact current teachers.
The above post does seem to shed some light on dearth of information.
But hey if you are new to China go the safe(r) public route for your first school.
I know I crank on about this but I've seen too many people who would go on to be great teachers burned off my a bad first time.
Best

It has a good reputation in Shanghai. They've got over 40 foreign teachers and some of the management are foreigners as well -- when I interviewed with them a couple of years ago, that's who I talked with. I ultimately went with another job since I wanted a change from Shanghai. Anyway, it's a solid school that is reputable. A lot of "international" schools in Shanghai are shady shams, but Xiwai is an actual, real school. I can't say from experience how they treat their teachers, but any school that employs so many foreigners on their teaching and management staff is a green flag. They seemed quite professional when I went to the campus to interview. |
