How high is the demand for licensed teachers in public schools? Is there any kind of a shortage? |

I'd also like some info from those of you working in mainstream secondary schools there please ...
How much paid holiday is there?
Are you expected to work any of the school holidays?
How big are class sizes?
Thanks! |

I worked for a public school many years ago. It was okay and there was a shortage but the contracts were only for 11 months (no summer pay or accept camp work). I had a family, so it was unsuitable and frankly I didn't enjoy it. But this was a decade ago, so maybe the school cultures are more geared to foreigners. The conditions though, remain quite under whelming IMHO e.g. only ten days leave and a small bonus ... not really much of an incentive many. |
