Depends on your background, experience and qualifications.
Also, did they breakdown your working hours into teaching hours, preparation time, admin etc etc? If no time is allotted for lesson planning, do they expect you to do that outside of your normal 'paid' working hours? |

20K sounds about right for an entry level job. As Jmbf says it is crucial that you find out whether it's a salary or hourly paid. Also, make sure it is really is a minimum of 20K a month and not 'about' and that holidays are paid. Otherwise, you could well struggle.
Another point, if you're new to HK then you'll need help finding accommodation from your employers. It will be expensive and the most you'll get with that kind of salary will be a room in a shared apartment. This isn't everyone's 'cup of tea'. Another expense is MPF. As you'll be earning 20K a month they'll dock you 1,500 monthly to pay into the government pension scheme (you'll get it back when you leave).
Hope this helps. |

Yes and no. It does largely depend on which area the OP decides to live in and how much of their salary they decide to allot to accommodation.
Those wishing to live fairly centrally AND maximise their savings will indeed need to share a room. Otherwise there are flats further out in the New Territories that are 'relatively' affordable (e.g. approx 10K). One floor of a village house (2 bedrooms, approx 700 sq ft) can also be had for around 12K. |
