I am due to arrive shortly on a spousal visa and wondering if you can shed some light on "typical" married contracts. My husband works for a fitness/spa company and while they've said they'll cover my visa and medical insurance, flights were left out of the deal. We're not sure if that includes me coming out and/or annual leave. We are seeking clarification from them (the contract didn't include anything about his married status, that was included in subsequent clarification emails which were added to amend the contract...however, after three rounds of lots of clarifications my flights was the one loose end). In the meantime I wanted to throw this out to get some insight from people on the ground. Much appreciated!!

Since nearly all of the members here are teachers, I doubt anyone can tell you what non-education people get in their contracts. It sounds to me as if yours is a work in progress and at least you got added... your husband needs to keep pressing (politely, of course) for flight tickets to match his. That is the norm for teachers, but as I said... may not be the norm in his field.

I suspect you're out of luck. If your husband is currently in country and already working for this employer, then his signed employment contract essentially means he's agreeing to the terms and conditions exclusive of your airfare. Besides, if the employer had intended to cover your flight, they likely would have done so in conjunction with paying for your visa.
