Hi everyone,

Has anyone transferred their iqama or know of anyone who has? Any input on the procedure would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Your new/prospective employer is the best source for what's required based on your particular reason for requesting transfer of sponsorship.

VERY hard to get an iqama transfer for a teaching
position. Other categories, like IT, not as difficult.
It's problematic because then you go home and start
the process over again, and there seems to be no
acknowledgement by those who process visas that
You have been approved before..or many times.

However, it's not known if the OP wants to transfer sponsorship because his/her current employer is in breach of contract.

The new employer won't mind at all, because they don't have to pay any costs up front and they get an employee very quickly.

Therein lies the problem, the old employer won't generally want to give the new employer something for free. As in, they paid for your flight over to KSA in the first place, and all the medical costs etc, and the new employer won't have to do that.

Depends on your employer, if you offer to reimburse them for original costs maybe.

I have personally known someone do it, but he was a very senior person within STC, moving from a contractor of STC to STC direct.

Also, I knew a woman principle who joined my old school directly from somewhere else.

Generally speaking, for a lowly teacher the answer will be no.

Your principal is your pal.

Agreed, very rarely accomplished. Can sometimes be leveraged,
but iqama transfer is too streamlined and sensible to be common here

Thank you for the responses. My current employer is fine and in the "green" category so I would need their permission to transfer. I have spoken to upper management and have been given the go ahead to transfer "inshallah it will be ok!" He said. I should hand in my notice and then request them to start the process.

My potential future employer has told me to wait for a letter. This will request transfer of sponsorship.

My concern is that if I hand in my notice and the transfer is not competed in 30 days, I will be left with no work and be stuck in the kingdom.

Needless to say I will be taking my time. Since the UK work visa regulations have changed, I am hoping this would be better.

If the system "improves" will that be in your favour ? Or in the favour of the employer ?
