This thread was started as a rebuttal to bendan who inferred I was a liar or fool in another thread. I did not wish to hijack the other thread so I did the polite thing and started this thread.

What amazes me is all of the posts which exhibit antiChinese feelings, if not downright hostility.

Roger - since when did the rules of this forum require perfect garmmar?

Grey - is that a new insult? Being Chinese means something derogatory?

Why did so many assume that I am Chinese and why did bendan assume I was not?

What is in a name, or a handle?

This thread produced a great deal of food for thought!

You read only what you want to read.

Most of us teach english. We are Pedants. And after reading and listening to bad english grammar usage since arriving in China on a daily basis, I come to the cafe to get away from it.

It obviously does to you considering your crusade against the words use in any way, shape or form. Shall we start calling it the "C word" so as not to offend you?

Perhaps it was the content and quality of your posts.... Nonsense about Watermelons, Bad grammar, incorrect spelling, a capacity to lose face and feel obligated to insult others when your opinion was challenged, planting flame bait as previous "C word" people have done here in the past.

It certainly did. Many posters contributed thoughtful ideas, analysis, and more.

What did you contribute?
