Hi everyone,

I'm a 24 year old English graduate looking for work. I'm in the last week of CELTA and am very excited to be commencing employment.

Personal details:
- Australian national
- 24 years old
- Extremely articulate, writes extremely well
- Very passionate about the English language and its' literature
- Enthusiastic about education and human development more broadly
Education:
- Bachelor of Arts (English and Political Economy double major) from the University of Sydney, graduated early 2014
- CELTA - in the last week now
- Completed first aid and pool lifeguard qualifications (may have lapsed)

Previous employment experience:

- Worked for the same sporting and fitness organisation for over 4 consecutive years. Was promoted to supervising a very large and busy sports and aquatic centre and worked there for my last year in the organisation.

I would love to work somewhere in Africa. If anyone knows of any opportunities available please inbox me or reply to this thread.

Also keen to get tips and advice from others.

Thank you everyone,

Matt

Try for Egypt...plenty of teaching work around...just google and send your resumes off to all English language schools. Good luck! Smile

Hi EFL Educator,

Thanks for your input. I am particularly keen on countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, however I am considering North Africa as well. I will look into what Egypt has to offer Smile

Places such as Zambia, Burundi, Malawi, Congo, CAR, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda , Rwanda, Ethiopia, etc, etc would be perfect. I have an adventurous spirit and I'm particularly keen on low development countries.

Thanks again,

Matt

Why not contact various Australian NGOs that have projects throughout Africa?

Is there an Oz equivalent of VSO/Peace Corps ? Other jobs in the areas you mention are very few. You are about 50 years too late.

There was a huge expansion in secondary and higher education in the years after Independence. Jobs in those sectors have now been Africanised.

A few years in EFL and the excitement will be replaced by horror.

I wonder what happened to the poster from a few years back who was determined to work in the Congo ? Was he called Jason ?

Found him. In a fit of pique, he deleted all his posts.
