I am looking for an ESL job either in Russia or Ukraine. I have an Economics degree and will be taking the CELTA this month. I have no prior teaching experience. I looked on the job board and sent them my resume today, so waiting on those. Any other good resources?

Your timing isn't stellar - it's not hiring season....

Concur with what spiral said. Now is not the best time to go to Russia or Ukraine given the current economic crisis. In fact I would steer well clear.

Dont be this poor sod who was on the receiving end of the Mother of all Rogerings

Want to go for cultural reasons just as much to make a living.

Oh look another dumb, naive Yank. Culture my arse.

You will be sorely disappointed when you find out the hard way.

Where do you suggest on going then? I have always been interested in Russian culture and wanted to learn Russian. I also don't have anything tying me down.

I think some of the comments above are too harsh. I have been in Russia (not Moscow) for over 4 years and whilst the economic crisis has had some effect it is still easy to earn enough to live comfortably and save some. The difference comes when you want to convert those savings to another currency.

I agree that it is not the best time of year to be looking for a post but I got my first job here in November so it is possible. TEFL.com is another good place to look.

Actually, given the number of schools which are desperate for teachers you might be in luck. McSkools, obviously, but a job none the less.

Ignore this guy. I'm a dumb naive Yank that came here for cultural reasons too and it's exceeded my expectations. Still here after almost 2 years. Check expat.ru for more job finding resources.
