|
|
Can anyone living in Muscat tell me how much I would expect to pay for a 1 bedroom/Studio apartment in the center of town ? I saw one advert for a furnished 1 bedroom apartment in AL Kuwayr district which was for 280 a month.
Are there usually a lot of options for furnished apartments in Muscat, as it is the Capital City ?
Anyone living in Muscat with info on renting please pm me, or reply to this post.
Thanks in advance for any help. |

Muscat is extremely expensive for accomodation in the center of town.. expect to pay around OMR 600 a month for a studio furnished apt....if your lucky to find one!!! The Ruwi area is the cheapest place to live...but it best to learn Urdu, Hindi. Tamil or Punjabe if you live there. |

Muscat doesn't really have a "center of town" as such. You need to consider where your employer is located, and the facts of the commute. Then you start the search for an affordable flat. They will be rare. It may have changed, but when I was there, furnished flats were pretty much not affordable for teachers. And that brings up the problem of having to get a new place set up. You need to discuss this issue with your employer and find out what assistance they provide to new teachers.

Thanks for the information, it doesn't sound too good, my housing allowance is only 250 riyals, so it looks like I will have to dig deep into my monthly salary as well! I can't believe, how expensive it will be. Perhaps, I will try and negotiate a slightly higher allowance to compensate for the Muscat prices. I know in Salahah, you can rent a 2 bedroom place for 230 riyals a month !!! |

Is that for a 10 or 12 month lease? |
