Can't say I'm familiar with too many of these. Wonder how long any of them may last.

I would expect no less from a fellow stick-in-the-mud curmudgeon. Very Happy

Regards,
John

P.S. But one of these days, I might be driven to ghost you. Smile

I must concur with my compatriot. The modern usage of impact as a verb makes me want to reach for the sick bag. And since when did the noun issue acquire a negative connotation? Will those guilty of perpetrating such linguistic sacrilege kindly fess up?

Dear grahamb,

It seems the creation of some neologisms is an issue that has impacted you negatively. Very Happy

John

You're not alone on that.

Didn't that start with the old movie 'Rosemary's Baby'? It's not quite as bad as 'spawn,' but definitely can be negative.

Anyway, I'll join the No-New-Words club. Where do I send my dues;-)? The US Southwest or the rainy coast of Scotland? Wink

Yes, John, I definitively have "ishoos" with the lexicon of the modern world.

Spiral, it appears that Storm Frank is about to impact (!) the west coast of Scotland, so I suggest sending your subscription to Scot47; he may require a few sandbags to avoid flooding ishoos.

My bunker is above sea level and not subject to flooding. I consulted the Marquess and his feudal lackeys before moving here.

As long as you "fess up" to such crimes as using ridiculous slang, such as "fess up". "Confess" will do quite nicely, thank you.

''fess up" is older than I am - which means it's ancient:

fess (v.) Look up fess at Dictionary.com
shortened form of confess, attested by 1840, American English. With up (adv.) from 1930. Related: Fessed; fesses; fessing.

John
