|

Hey,
I'm interested in coming to China to work (particularly interested in Shanghai) and am wondering whether or not my MA TESOL will be of much value for securing 'better' university positions. I recall reading ages ago that many employers did not see much added value (in comparison to just a non-related BA). Perhaps things have changed.
Cheers. |

| It depends. If you are looking for a public university job, it is doubtful you will need an MA, though one may get you a slightly higher salary. However, if you are thinking of something in a joint venture uni or somewhere like NYU in Shanghai you will need an MA. |

| Cheers. I'm guessing those would be fairly competitive even with the MA |

| Competitive ... yes and no. Some of the sino-western collaboration are very eager to secure people with the right qualifications and experience. |
