What kind of people work for EF? I heard they will take anyone. Does EF have a good reputation in China? |

Well, they took "ludwig", although his current persona is strangely quiet about that episode in his life. His earlier incarnation, Bertie, certainly wasn't so reticent. A warning about upsetting the sponsors maybe?
Do a search. There must be hundreds of EF entries. A former poster and moderator here, who I have a lot of respect for, works in EF's publishing division. She says some of the franchises are excellent. So its like the curate's egg: good in parts.

Definitely agree. It depends on the owners/directors and DoS of the franchise whether you have a good experience. I've been a DoS for the company and been really lucky with the people I work with. By the way, teachers work a 5 day week except for a few weeks during high seasons ( 3 weeks winter school holidays and also July/August) when it's a 6 day week
Contracts state 40 hour week but maximum contact is 20 hours pw (low season) and 26 hours pw. Overtime paid above this.
My teachers would average 14-18 contact hours plus a few more doing demos, placement tests, english corner etc. All the schools have good supplementary material, modern classrooms, computer labs etc.
So if you get lucky with the owners etc you should be well looked after |

You can do better than EF...their pay is low and hours long
Be sure to check with a search of topics on this site...some are highly thought of and others , like Changchun are not... |

Recruiter, shill, apologist, Bs'er, Liar, Delusional. These are just some of the words which spring to mind after reading the above.

Rumour has it that EF in China will probably be finished withtin the next 18 months. It would appear that they have already closed their operations in Brazil and Spain - China could be next.
I emphasise the word rumour - but there is no smoke without fire. |

No, paranoia is an unreasonable fear. To say I'm scared of you is laughable. Scared of your incessant bleatings? Annoyed, yes.
But the predictability of your response to anything I post, i.e., quote the whole thing, then make a weak comment you regard as acidic, has been proven yet again on this thread. |

Just a very general opbservation:
The only more or less good comments about EF I heard in Qingdao. I think I posted that once already.Even though being very price-y, in Qingdao EF is pretty popular and they are always in need of extra part-time teachers because their teachers have full schedules.
I used to work for the IH in Russia and the feedbacks on EF in Russia were also different depending on location-co-owner-DOS. But so were they for the IH |

I believe that EF Shanghai is partnered by an FAO from a major Shanghai uni. |

EF is the largest private language school in the world (FACT) |
WRONG! EF is not even a 'school'. It is an organisation which hands out franchises to anyone with enough cash.
Now that's fact. |
