Hello everyone,

I want to mention before I start that I did a Google Search and searched the forums about this topic but everything seems to be a little vague. I know that there are a lot of ESL teachers on this thread who may be able to assist and help me figure out the length of time that I have to wait for my Employment Visa/ Issuance number to complete the process. I know my situation isn't unique but I am a little antsy with the waiting.

I signed a contract with the University of Dammam through Global Recruiting the during the Christmas holidays and I am from Canada. I was able to find a great agent in Ottawa called Global Visa Services who I used before to come to the KSA. They were fantastic and really quick with processing my visa.

During the Christmas holidays I was able to get a full medical, criminal background check, three passport photos, etc. I basically have the list of documents finished. The only hassle I had with the Visa Services was to notarize/ authenicatize my CELTA. My center director messaged them and I paid a fee to get it down.

For the past month I have been waiting for my visa issuance number. I am getting a little antsy because it has been 3-4 weeks. I remember for my business visa in which I went in 2014 was a little less then two weeks. Is it common for the Work Employment Visa to take longer? Is it because I am Canadian?

Once that is sent to me, I really believe I can get everything sent back to me quickly. The Visa Services in Ottawa mentions on their website that it could take about a week but it is a little expensive.

Am I being unreasonable or impatient to get things done? I know next to nothing about this process and am learning about it from reading about it, talking to ESL teachers on Linked In and from friends who have done this before.

I worry that this can take a few months because I don't think I have the stomache to wait that long. I turned down a few jobs in China, Japan, etc to head back for 1-2 more years to put some money in my pocket to get my DELTA and to pay for my B.ed.

Has anyone had any experiences with this? Does it take a long time or can it be done quickly?

Thank you for reading and I hope to meet you in the KSA.

Cheers,

Murray1978

Once the block visa request is approved by the Ministry of Labor in KSA, your employer will then obtain a visa authorization number and an electronic power of attorney authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Yep, it takes time---sometimes 3+ weeks depending on various factors including when the employer submitted the request to the MoL after receiving your signed contract.

Sorry but I'd say you are being a little impatient. It hasn't been long since the offer was made. Also bear in mind there was a one week vacation at universities and people generally take a few more days off. It's a direct hire position so I am sure they will not let you down.

Business visas are a lot quicker and easier than work visas.

That does sound a bit long actually. Once you have done everything, which you say you have, it should only take a few days to get the visa.

Have you contacted your agent for the visa to ask them why the hold up?

The visa agent is helpless here. They cannot process his visa until they receive the block number from the Saudi employer.
