Can anyone tell me if there's a pretty solid Music store in HCM? I'm wondering about the availability of electric guitar strings, pics etc...
I vaguely remember someone telling me there's a decent store not far from the Starbucks in HCM (A few blocks+/-)
Anyone see any Roland amps by any chance?
Thanks for any info! |

Nguyen Thien Thuat in District 3 is the famous "guitar street" in HCMC and there is also a shop on Nguyen Du streer if memory serves.
You may want to ask as well on another prominent Expat blog to connect with people. |

This is a long-shot, but I wonder if there is any kind of indie music scene there as well (???). |

Club Yoko has some pretty good bands play there. A lot of Japanese Expats but they also have Vietnamese guitarists as I remember. Most of the educated folk actually speak decent English and I've found them to be very open to making international friends. |

RS,
Thanks for responding. I have been in that district before and saw some shops. At the time, I wasn't really looking for much so didn't pay much attention. I guess I'll bring a 5-6 extra packs of strings, a bag of pics and my small practice amp.
Hopefully different options show up later if needed! |

You can easily buy guitar strings and pics in Saigon. You can easily buy them almost anywhere in Vietnam... It's not exactly a rare, Western commodity. It's an everyday item. |

Definitely find Yoko. they do have great shows.
And then just get to know the musicians and they'll tell you the best places for guitars. |
