Hello Eveyrone,

My friend is from Bangladesh. She is a dual US-Bengali citizen. She is staying with her family for about six months. Being that Bangladesh is a poor country, the rate for women is about $1.50 an hour.

She has a little teaching experience and could make a good English tutor.

Can anybody recommend any good firms that pay more than $10 an hour teaching English online?

Thanks

I haven't found too many. There are, of course, companies that are willing to pay above $10/hour, but they will require that you are a native speaker (I get that she is a US citizen, but does she have a Bengali accent?), have a degree, and possess some form of TESL/TEFL credentials. Does your friend meet those requirements?

In addition to the requirements described in the preceding reply (usually preferred, tho not always), she'll need to demonstrate internet speed that will support video communication and she will need to be available in high-demand hours.

A number of online companies currently seek only ESL teachers who also have upper-intermediate or higher level of proficiency in a language spoken by a significant number of the company's customers.

Thanks. Her English is impeccable. She came from a wealthy family, went to British prep schools, etc. She is a native in both languages (not like that choppy Indian or Bengali accent other people hear).

Any ideas for Bangladesh?

If that's the case, suggest that she sign up on the Cafe and ask these questions herself.

Anyway, for online positions, she should give Most complete on-line school list in universe a look.
