Are you spending too much time correcting your students compositions? Send them over to the Tandem Learning Forum and let the native English speakers who have registered in the forum to learn Spanish correct your students English. Its one big happy family. Everybodys sharing the work. This is what e-learning was meant to be the free exchange of information. Come and check it out: http://www.myprofe.com/tandem

LOOK, JUST 'CAUSE SOMEONE'S A NATIVE SPEAKER DOESN'T MEAN S/HE KNOWS SQUAT ABOUT COMPOSITION. DOING THIS WOULD BE CHEATING YOUR STUDENTS OUT OF WHAT THEY ASKED TO YOU BE DOING -- IE TEACHING!!!!

And how can an outsider properly assess a composition, without a) understanding the assignment & topic, and b) having seen the student's thesis, notes, first draft, etc.? There's more to reading compositions than just marking grammar.

Obviously, I didnt explain myself very well. Im just here to inform people of the existence of a forum where a language exchange can take place. How people make use of this is up to them. This is also my personal response to the many chats and forums Ive visited where non-native English speakers are practicing their bad English amongst themselves and nobody is correcting them. I dont know what its like in other countries but Spaniards, whether they are students or professional people, have only 3 hours of English class a week. We have to offer them some additional options if we ever expect them to learn the language.

I took a look at this and bookmarked it. While I agree that it should not be used as a substitute for teacher correction, I think it could be a fine tool IN ADDITION to what the teacher does. If nothing else, a native speaker can catch a lot of minor errors, leaving us to tackle the more global stuff.

Thanks, I have added that to my Spanish language favorites, so I can use it as I study Spanish!
