because I keep in touch with family and friends through facebook so I need my vpn. |
Surely you can go "old school" for a week or two and use email. Or else get a better VPN. I've been using Witopia for years and it almost never fails me. They offer more gateways, encryption levels and VPN protocols than any other VPN out there. It costs a bit more but it's worth every dollar. |

No need. PM me and I'll send you a free VPN that connects to most blocked sites including both Facebook and YouTube that I had to resort to when Witopia failed and I'm currently having to resort to due to Astrill being sporadically blocked.
Email? What's email? |

There's a back-up service built into Astrill called "Stealth VPN".
I'm using it right now, with no issues. Same as during CNY. Dare I say it's even faster than the Open option?
However, during CNY, when they flipped their lid and basically told their customers "not to be idiots" via their splash message, everyone called them a bunch of jerks. They gave every paying customer 2-4 months of free service, including this "Stealth" option.
In good timing, too.
So, keep using Astrill. When it goes down, switch to Stealth. (Until they hit that too, but, hey, Astrill has always been real good about finding us a way. I've been a customer for like 4 years.) |

Even stealth has been spotty for me in the past few days. |

| I wonder if it depends on where you are. Stealth worked for me sporadically until today where it finally failed to connect to any server anywhere. I even had difficulty maintaining a connection with my free VPN until I updated it. |

| If Stealth isn't working for you, go in to Settings > Stealth VPN Options and change it from Fast to Reliable. It worked for me. |

Ah, thanks for the tip! Yeah, Stealth has been cracking in and out for me. I'll try this when it bunks out again. I've been bouncing between servers, and 90% of the time, it's fine. The other 10% I've just had to wait 20 minutes.

As far as I can see you need to make an extra payment for stealth mode.
As trill is absolutely useless right now.
It's never been this bad for this long. |

| Astrill stealth mode is working just fine. No extra payment required - just change your settings. |
