|
|
Does anyone know if this is a reputable school? I've had a job offer that looks great. (Though with a lot of teaching hours - I've heard that's normal in an international school?) But I'm worried about it being too good to be true...
Thanks much!

Time to get out our whack-a-mole mallets yet again. They've hardly had time to cool off from the last round |

Sorry? I'm not sure what that means. |

The Internet is your friend. Be proactive and do a search on Orchlon International School reviews. Piece of cake. |

You're absolutely right, and I've been combing the internet. Unfortunately, I can't find anything from people who've taught there. Since there are several Mongolia threads, I thought someone here might have heard of them. |

According to their website
https://sites.google.com/a/orchlon.edu.mn/site-en/home
Quote: |
Orchlon International School is a private co-educational day school offering a bilingual English-Mongolian programme from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
We offer the Mongolian national curriculum together with Cambridge programmes
(CIPP, Cambridge lower secondary/Checkpoint, IGCSE, and A levels).
|
This seems to indicate that they are NOT a fully-accredited international school offering the IB.
Does that mean you shouldn't work for them? Not necessarily. They seem successful (large). They have a shiny new building.
Ask to communicate for some current expat teachers. |

Thanks sigmoid, that's a great idea!
The school doesn't offer the IB curriculum, though it's registered through Cambridge as an international secondary school. I've only taught in public schools, so I'm still untangling what all this means. |

Had a colleague who taught at Orchlon, he said it was full of bratty rich kids. He quit after the school director made him change a student's failing grades to a pass, because the kid's father -- some big shot in the business world -- had complained.
Of course, this was about 8 years ago so things may well have changed. |
